The 10 Foot Rule

When I worked at Walmart several years ago, I was taught the "10 Foot Rule" in my training. To quote Sam Walton - "... I want you to promise that whenever you come within 10 feet of a customer, you will look him in the eye, greet him and ask him if you can help him." I practiced it then and I do it now in witnessing or acknowledging someone that in near.
On your next trip to Walmart, see if the "10 Foot Rule" is put into practice. Most likely you will be disappointed. Employees and even managers don't even bother to greet anyone. I try to get a manager's  attention when  they just walk on by without smiling or acknowledging that I'm in the vicinity. I want to ask if they know what the "10 Foot Rule" is!
Try it the next time you are out witnessing. Give a tract to people who are in 10 feet of your reach. Some people  appreciate the fact that you took time to hand them a tract! I had one man look at me like I was crazy! He had probably never received a tract before. The more you do this, the more you may give tracts out!

Fourth Of July Fireworks Display / Monroe,La. -July 7, 2012

Before I made it to meet up with everyone, I stopped in Sterlington to give tracts to Mike and his fiancé where that had a firework stand. They were waiting for their fireworks and tent to be picked up. I had met Mike at the laundry mat last week. He is from Sibley, which is near New Orleans. I wanted to make sure he had got a tract before he left. While I was talking to him, his fiancé came out of their travel trailer. I gave her the Bible Belt tract, too. I gave an Are You A Good Person tract to Mike's grandson. When Mike saw it, he said that he had picked one up at the gas station. It was one that Bro. J.J. had placed on the gas pump! Tracts do get taken!
We met a little after 7:30 behind the golf course of Forsythe Park. The Monroe Jaycees were shooting off the fireworks on the Ouachita River. The crowd was gathering on the levee and at the Forsythe Park. We passed out tracts as we walked toward the levy. Bro. Gary gave a tract to a deaf man. We gave out tracts to some young people in the park. Everyone split up in different directions. Most of the people were taking the tracts. We were giving out a lot of The Bible Belt Tracts. I gave out the rest of the Celebrate Freedom tracts, except for one that I found in my pocket later.
One of the highlights was talking with a Jewish man named Tripper. I gave him a tract to start the conversation. Bro. J.T. talked with him about Isaiah 53, Psalm 22, and the prophecies that pointed to Jesus being the Messiah. He was real open. Bro. J.T. gave him a This Was Your Life tract, also. Please pray for Tripper.
I talked with John, who was a Vietnam vet. He said that talked to God everyday. He thanked me for giving him the tract. Bro.J.T. gave tracts to 3 men who were Muslims.
Walking back to where our vehicles were parked, we handed out tracts as we went. Then, we had to wait for traffic to die down in order to leave. While waiting, I gave out around 20 million dollar bill tracts to some who were in vehicles. One woman who was in a convertible offered me frisbees and can huggers. I said " I'll give you a million for them!" as i gave her the tract. Then, Bro. J.T. gave her The Bible Belt tract. The frisbees and can huggers were from a bar in Monroe called the cave. That woman could have been one of the owners!
I would like to thank all the men that came out to evangelize at this event: Bro. McGuire, Bro. J.T., Bro. Ian, Bro. Garan, Bro. Gary, and Simon. Pray that we can see some fruit from our labors!

Go And Tell !

What a great commission for the Christian : to go and tell of the great things that the Lord has done ! It is a joy to talk about how much compassion He has for us ! This man in Mark 5 was bound by spiritual chains when chains that were made by men couldn't hold him. He was wild. He cut himself with stones. He was possessed by devils. Then, the Gadarene met the Nazarene ! Jesus came and set him free ! Do you remember that day when you were set free ? The chains were broken ! You called upon the name of the Lord ! You got saved ! You were blind, but now you see ! Jesus told you to go and tell of what he has done for you ! I was reading this passage in March of 1993 when I lived in Shreveport. The Lord was telling me to go home to witness for him. I came back to West Monroe the next month. I witnessed to everyone that I came in contact with. I witnessed on the job. I told all my friends what the Lord had done for me ! I did lose a lot of friends, but God gave me new ones ! I am still going and telling ! The commandments from the Lord through His word are not grievous !
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 John 5:3-5 KJV)
Be encouraged ! It is joy in obeying the commandment to go and tell ! The first two letters in Gospel is go ! Let's go and tell today !

The 10/5 Challenge

A poll taken several years ago revealed that only ten percent of Christians shared their faith. If this is true, then what are the other ninety percent doing ? Every Christian should be about the business of telling others about Jesus and the way of salvation through His wonderful cross. We would like to encourage those who find it difficult to begin to tell others the Good News of the Gospel. Once you get started, you can't stop ! We would like for you to take this challenge to give you a boost in evangelizing the lost. There are two options you can choose from. Witness to ten people a day for five days in a row. This would include handing out gospel tracts or engaging in a conversation with someone that leads to witnessing. The second option is to evangelize for ten minutes a day for five days in a row. Find a street corner to hold up a sign or maybe street preach. You could pass out tracts for ten minutes, also. Imagine how many tracts could be distributed in ten minutes ! Place them where people can pick them up to read when they are idle. Pray about what the Lord would have you to do. Witnessing is not that hard ! People will appreciate someone taking the time to speak to them about their soul and eternal destiny. We pray that you will accept this challenge to help you get over an obstacle that is preventing you from being the soul-winner that God wants you to be. Feel free to leave a comment after you have taken this challenge and seen a change in your witnessing efforts. God Bless !

Armageddon Fest - May 20 and 21

We had a great day and night May 20th, into the morning of May 21st ! It started out at 3:30 pm on Friday with Bro. J.J. preaching at Walmart. I joined him about 4:00 and preached once for 8 minutes while my family watched on. I gave a tract to a homeless man who told me ro pray for his dog when I told him that we would pray for him. He wasn't interested in what we had to say. Bro J.J. was out there for an hour and a half. After 9:00 pm, we went to check out Bastrop. We had a great time doing some " drive-by " witnessing. We reached Monroe around 10:30. We went to our new favorite place to preach. The Tsunami was having an " Armageddon Fest " due to the prediction of Family Radio. We had an awesome time there ! The first person we talked to was a homeless man who was passing by. He told us that he was saved, but had trouble with sin. We prayed for him and gave him a gospel of Romans and John. While we were talking to him, a woman asked us for one of the gospels that we had. We gave away about 6 or 7 of them during the night. Next, a man in a wheel chair came to talk to us. We had seen him the last time we preached. The man who picked him up was the one who told us to have fun in hell. This young man had been paralyzed from his waist down since he was 17 after a drunk driver had hit him and his mother. We tried to get through to him with the gospel, but he was bitter with his situation. Please pray for this man. His last name is Miletello.
Many came to us about the doomsday prediction. We had alot of interesting conversations. One
man asked if we were out there because of the prediction. We told him that we did this all the time. The subject of aliens came up twice. When midnite came around, our best heckler came out to say " The rapture happened and you are still here ! " We proclaimed that it was a false prediction, but people need to ready anytime ! The scripture that was quoted by several was "No man knoweth the hour." We ended the night by talking to a man who we had talked to at the Top Gun a while back. Bro J.J. remembered him. What a great night we had !
