Happy New Year ! / Scott's Testimony

We pray that this will be a great new year for everyone! There are still souls to be won in 2012!

On New Year's eve, Bro. JJ and I evangelized at Walmart. We were there from about 3:45 till 5:00. We witnessed inside first. I was giving out tracts on the way in. I talked to Charles who was looking at the liquor( which they have at the front ). I told him my testimony briefly. Upon leaving that section, I explained to another man what I was doing. He took a New Year's tract from me. I got to share my testimony with a few others.

We preached and held the cross for about 45 minutes. At the spot that we are preaching in now, there is a path where employees and customers walk to go to the bus stop. We gave most of them tracts. Only one man didn't take a tract from Bro. JJ. I talked to my friend, Willie, who was walking to Walmart. He had worked at Ryan's several years ago. I gave him the address to the Spanish blog (He is from Venezuela ). I gave a tract to Trey at Walmart last night. We saw him walking to the bus stop today.

My Testimony - Nineteen years ago on New Year's Eve, I was involved in the party scene. I thought I was living the good life. I had moved to Shreveport to manage the GNC at Southpark Mall. I had just bought a 1992 Dodge Dakota Sport. I tried to find a picture of one like I had, but the one in the picture above was the closest. I had row bars and a tarp on the bed. I was twenty-three at this time. Before this,I managed the GNC at Pecanland Mall in Monroe. I was into working out with weights.I had lost about 65 pounds through exercising and dieting. My friend, John, helped me to get on track. In November, my boss asked me if I could transfer to the Shreveport store. I eagerly told him that I could. I was wanting to go up in the company.
I had met a young woman at one of the clubs that I hung out with my friend, Al. We started dating before I moved. She lived in Ruston. I stopped in see her one day when I was going back to West Monroe to visit. She broke up with me that day. The day before New Year's Eve, she called me to ask us to hold a place for her at the club where we would be at in Monroe. I was going to show her that I could be with someone else! We all got to the bar that night with partying on our minds. I started drinking mixed drinks. Sometime after midnight, I blacked-out. I remember just bits and pieces of what was to happen after that. I remember walking out to my truck. After that, I remember shutting the passenger door to the truck. Then, I was walking on the other side of the bridge down Trenton Street in West Monroe. Then, I was at the door of Al's apartment. I woke up at 10:00 on New Year's Day. I told Al that we needed to find my truck. I didn't know where it was! We drove around looking for it in West Monroe and Monroe. I finally called The Monroe Police Department to ask I'd they had towed the truck. The woman on the line told me that it had been towed to Master's Auto Service in Monroe. I went to see it there. The hood and front was crushed in the middle. The owner of the towing company told me that I was fortunate to be alive. I had hit a utility pole on the corner of Pine and Walnut, which was several blocks from the club. The police had pulled some of my hair from the windshield where I had hit with my head. I had walked about two miles from where I had wrecked. The officer that worked the accident called me at midnight on January 1st to ask me about what had happened. I lied about what I did, but they knew that I had been drinking.
I had to go back to Shreveport without transportation. Over the next several months I depended on my parents to come to bring my back home
on most weekends. I walked to work sometimes and got a taxi at other times. One day at work I was talking with a regular customer about some of our products. She and her husband worked for the Shreveport Police Department. We ended up talking about church and Jesus. She asked where I went to church. I told her that I was trying to go back to church. She said "You're not doing anything! You better come back to Jesus now! "
There had been others who had witnessed to me before, but her words made me to think. I didn't write the exact date down, but around March the 15th I repented of my sins, asked for forgiveness, and was saved at my apartment in Kingston Village Apartments on Kingston Road! What a change! I got born-again! I told everyone what had happened to me! I couldn't go back to the clubs anymore!
I couldn't listen to the same music anymore! I didn't have the desire to drink anymore! I was a changed man!
I was able to move back home and get my old job back in April. I started passing out tracts. I went to church whenever I could. I wanted all that the Lord had for me! I wanted to do His will! I met Todd at a revival one night. We passed out tracts at several bars around town. Later, we preached at some of the bars. I was nervous about street preaching, but I was hooked after I did it a few times! I love to tell the story of how the Lord saved me!
I am thankful that I have had an extension on my life. I should have died and went to hell that night of my accident, but I am alive! I am saved!
Happy New Year !

Evangelism Update - 12/30/2011

The Monday After Christmas - We were off from work due to Christmas being on Sunday. After going to my parents, my family and I ate at CiCi's Pizza. A Spanish couple was sitting in the booth behind us. When we were leaving, I told the gentleman " Feliz Ano Nuevo " ( Happy New Year ). We talked for a few minutes. He is a Doctor from Mexico City who lives in Dallas. I gave him my email and Spanish blog address. I gave out tracts at both of our Walmart stores.

Tuesday - I went to Walmart on my lunch. I talked to Luis, who is a truck driver that was passing through. I gave him a tract. He said that he lives in California. In witnessing, sometimes you run into people who aren't from the area that you live in. I've talked to different ones who are working in the area on a job that they travel with ( like construction ). I've talked to men that work on pipelines. Most likely, I will never see them again. At least I have talked to them about their soul or have put a tract in their hand.

Wednesday -At lunch, two Taco Bell employees got at tract. I went solo to jail service at Claiborne Parish Detention Center. We had a great service. I preached on " Set Free " out of Mark 5. I talked about my testimony and the born again experience. Many of the men took tracts, the gospel of John and Romans, and devotions. Two of the tracts are featured in the photo above. They are from this months Bezeugen Tract Club shipment.
One man asked me how to deal with his cellmates who weren't saved. I suggested that he read Ephesians 5. On the way home, I stopped at Walmart in Farmerville. I talked with a man whose name is pronounced " ses- toes ". He is from Mexico. After our conversation, I gave him a tract. I gave a New Year Resolution tract to the cashier as I was leaving.

Friday - I passed out several tracts at the mall tonight. I talked with a Spanish man who lives in Arkansas.
As I gave out the New Year Resolution tract, I would tell the receiver that there was a gospel message on the back. My five year old son helped put a few tracts out for someone to pickup.
At Walmart, I talked to Jorge. He works at a Chinese restaurant in the mall. My friend, Manuel, worked there until he moved back to Honduras last year. Jorge Is also from Honduras. He is a Christian, but can't go to church much because of his work schedule. At the checkout, I talked with Xavier. Then, I spoke with a couple from Columbia, South America. They know of a Spanish preacher that I know. Last stop: Water By The Gallon ! We went to fill up three water jugs. I gave a tract to a man that was leaving WingStop. I left a few at the water dispenser, also. Maybe someone who is getting natural water will receive the Living Water !

In my next post, I will write about my testimony. I was in an accident that led to my salvation. Only one more day in this year. Make it a soul-winning one !

Merry Christmas !

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Cæsar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judæa, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. (Luke 2:1-21 KJV)

Last Minute Christmas Witnessing !!

We stopped at Walmart to get a few things after leaving our Christmas get-together at my brother's. I gave Roman and his friend the " Feliz Navidad " tract. I also left a " Get Out Of Hell Free " card at the checkout area. Last stop :
Fred's ! My dad wanted me to see if they had some chocolate covered cherries for my mother. As I was leaving, I gave a tract to a man who was getting in his car. It's almost Christmas !

The Night Before Christmas Eve !

I went with my family tonight to do some last minute shopping. Being the next to the last night before Christmas, just about everyone was out doing the same. The mall was our first stop. I got to give out a holiday tract that I had printed out earlier from Steve Sanchez's blog, Stone The Preacher. ( The Tract is in the picture. ) It is a Spanish tract that ask if one has been good or bad. I gave it to Alejandro, who said that he wasn't a Christian. I gave out several " Get Out Of Hell Free " cards as we made our way through the crowds. A man named Leonard found me after I gave him one. He asked me what it meant. He said that he was a Christian. We talked
about the born-again experience. He asked if I had singled him out. I told him that I was giving out several different tracts. I gave him another one and challenged him to give it to someone.
At Stienmart, I ran into Luther, a Christian brother, that I haven't seen in years. He said that he was living in Arlington,Texas. We encouraged each other at our brief conversation.
I took my family home around 9:00 pm.
I still had a few more things to do. I picked up Bro. JJ to go back with me for the fellowship. The crowd was still in full force when we got to Walmart. Three Spanish men were in line to purchase a case of beer. I got the same tract out that I gave to Alejandro. I gave them one each as I wished them " Feliz Navidad ". It seemed that they had already been drinking. I pray that the will come to drink the living water ! I talked to Sly at the checkout line. He told me that he was a freelance artist. I gave him a new " Are You Ready ? " tract. Have you shared your faith this Christmas ?

Christmas Scriptures

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS. (Matthew 1:18-25 KJV)

Jesus - For He shall save His people from their sins !
Jesus - He died to give us life !
Jesus - He became a curse that I could be blessed !
Jesus - He paid a debt that I couldn't pay !
Jesus - He took my place !
Jesus - He took my sin away !
Jesus - He loved me and He still loves me !
Jesus - He still saves !
Jesus - He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life !
Jesus - He reigns and lives forevermore !

Evangelizing At Christmastime

I have been handing out tracts this week to people as I tell them " Merry Christmas ". It seems easier to witness to some at this time of the year. (Anytime of the year is a good time to witness, though ! ) May people really see why Christmas is celebrated.
Traffic was crazy today as we did some Christmas and grocery shopping.
I placed a few tracts in the stores that we went to. When we checked out at Walmart in the garden center, the same young woman that I posted about on November 2nd was at the register that we went to. She asked again if I had any pamphlets. I gave her three more tracts ! I got some more coming from Carl with the Bezeuen Tract Club. When I get them, I'll take her a few more ! Happy soul-winning at Christmastime !

Soul-Winning Words

"'Not called!' did you say? 'Not heard the call,' I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear Him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help. Go stand by the gates of Hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father's house and bid their brothers and sisters, and servants and masters not to come there. And then look Christ in the face, whose mercy you have professed to obey, and tell Him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish His mercy to the world."

Friday Night Evangelism

Bro. JJ and I went witnessing for a few hours tonight. We started out at McDonald's. We wanted to see if the young man that I witnessed to several weeks ago was working. He wasn't, so I asked the woman who took our order if he was still there. He was off tonight. I asked her to give him the tract in the picture above to let him know that we came by. We also gave tracts to her and a manager.
Next, we went to Walmart to preach. We preached at the usual spot and a new spot closer to the entrance. When I went to see how far I cold hear Bro. JJ, I gave tracts to a few Walmart employees and customers, I also ran into Lance, who has been to our church. I invited him to come to our Christmas play next week.
While I was preaching, there was a man that was listening from across the street. I wished him a Merry Christmas when he walked away.
On the way home, we stopped at Circle K to get a drink. I gave a tract to the gentleman that was working at the checkout.
The tract in the photo is from the Bezuegen Tract Club. If you want to join, go to http://bezeugentractclub.org . I have used the two Christmas tracts in previous post. Have you given out tracts this Christmas Season ?

I Memorized John 3:16 In Spanish Today !

I have been wanting to do this for a long time now. I finally did it ! I just needed to take time to do it. I went to get gas at Walmart after work, so I went in to look for someone to witness to before I got the gas card. I found Roberto and Jorge. They were from Bossier City. Roberto said that he was a Christian, but Jorge wasn't. I gave them a tract each and told them Merry Christmas. I need to work on memorizing more scripture in English and Spanish. God bless !

Witnessing At Fred's

O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles. (Psalm 43:3 KJV)

I went to Fred's tonight to see what they had in Christmas lights. When leaving, I talked to a man who was in the passenger side of a truck that was parked by me. His name is Dewayne. I gave him the tract about the Legend of The Candy Cane and one about Christmas. We had a good discussion about Christians, churches, and the Bible. He said that he lived by some of the Bible. He had his own opinion of how Christians should live. I hope I challenged him to read more of God's
Word and to apply the scriptures to his
heart. I gave a tract to his friend, Ozzie, when he came out of the store. I felt encouraged after talking to these two men. I love sharing my faith ! I want others to know my Savior; to experience His power in their lives !
His light and His truth leads me on !

His Name Is Jesus !

He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1 John 5:10-13 KJV)

Eternal life is found only through God's Son, Jesus ! God proved His love for us in Jesus ! There is not a secret way to Heaven. He did not hide His name and make it hard to find the way of salvation. Several religious groups think that they have the only "name" of God that you can know Him by. They think they are right and all the Christian teachings are wrong. The Bible clearly states that Jesus is the way to know the Lord ! These scriptures in 1 John say that He that hath the Son hath life. I've got the Son of God in my life, therefore, I have life ! I have been washed in the Blood ! I got baptized, but I was saved before I went under ! If you are born again , you should be able to tell those who try to deceive you into another way that you know that you are in the truth and that Jesus is your Lord and Savior ! His name is Wonderful ! His name is Jesus !

Missionary Spotlight

Bro. and Sis. Petit, missionaries to the Philippines, were at our church tonight. They usually come by when they are in the states. They have been there for a total of six years. In February, they will return for three more years.
During tonight's service, Sis. Petit shared some of her experiences there.
They were great testimonies of God's saving power. Bro. Petit preached a great message about the sower from Matthew 13:3. We must sow the seed of the Gospel no matter what the ground looks like. Thanks !

A Christmas Perspective

It's Christmas again ! Lights and trees are going up everywhere. Parties have already been planned. The stores and malls are being filled with gift seekers
For those of us who are saved, we focus on the Reason for the Season:
Jesus !

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. (Matthew 1:23 KJV)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:1-5, 10-14 KJV)

He came down so that he could lift us up ! He was born to die ! He that knew no sin became sin for us ! He gave the greatest gift of all: Himself ! Let this be the most Christ-filled Christmas that you have ever had ! As we give gifts, think about the one true Gift ! Jesus is what Christmas is all about !

Soul Patrol !

pa·trol (p-trl)
n.
1. The act of moving about an area especially by an authorized and trained person or group, for purposes of observation, inspection, or security.
2. A person or group of persons who perform such an act.

As Christians, we observe that people need the Lord. You might can say that we are on soul patrol, looking for souls to witness to. We are pointing souls to Calvary; to where we have been to receive forgiveness of our sins.
The tract in the picture is from the latest supply of tracts from The Bezeugen Tract Club. At the Walmart gas pumps tonight, I observed that there was a young man working on his speakers in the trunk of his car. I pulled out this tract out of my tract holder. As I gave it to him, I told him that I hoped that he had a Merry Christmas and that I was part of the soul patrol ! The tract talks about the symbolism behind the legend of the candy cane and ties it in with the gospel message. Christmas time can give us opportunities to witness about our great salvation. I'm glad that I'm part of the soul patrol !

Reflections Of Thanksgiving

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, (Psalm 92:1, 2 KJV)

At Thanksgiving time in America, we reflect on what we are thankful for. As Christians, we should be thankful at all times. We have been saved through the shed blood of Jesus ! We have been given the privilege to share our faith in Him ! Thanksgiving day has come and gone, but we can be thankful all year long. I am thankful for the opportunity to share my faith. I am thankful that I can even blog about my faith and the experiences that I have in doing so with my fellow laborers in the gospel. I am thankful to be alive ! As I posted a few months back,I wrecked my truck in a drunken state on New Year's morning in 1993. I was saved two months later. The Lord is so good ! I will post more about that night when the new year comes around. I am thankful for my wife, my three children, my family, my church, my pastor, my friends, my job, and my boss. Thanks to everyone that has taken the time to read our blog entries. We pray that we will continue to encourage you in witnessing. There are so many that aren't saved ! Let's be thankful for being able to proclaim the the name of Jesus ! I will leave you with this illustration I used in the message I preached at our church tonight :

Roland Allen tells about a veteran missionary who came up to him one day after he had delivered his sermon. The missionary introduced himself & said, "I was a medical missionary for many years in India. And I served in a region where there was progressive blindness. People were born with healthy vision, but there was something in that area that caused people to lose their sight as they grew older."

But this missionary had developed a treatment which would stop progressive blindness. So people came to him & he performed his treatment, & they would leave realizing that they would have become completely blind, but because of him their sight had been saved.

He said that they never said, "Thank you," because that phrase was not in their dialect. Instead, they spoke a word that meant, "I will tell your name." Wherever they went, they would tell the name of the missionary who had cured their blindness. They had received something so wonderful that they eagerly proclaimed it.
God bless !

Evangelism Update - November 25, 2011

But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. (Jude 1:17-23 KJV)

We had a revival at our church (Sterlington Holiness Tabernacle) a few weeks ago with Bro. Shawn Stephens who pastors in Kentucky. The messages that were preached challenged us. He and his sons blessed us with the songs they sung and played. We picked up John for most of the services. He is one of the homeless men that we talked to the last time we preached at Walmart. Please pray for the Lord to meet some needs for him.
I have been witnessing when I can. Here are some names of a few Spanish men that I have talked to : Julio, Catalina, and Nicolas. One night at Walmart I gave tracts to seven.
Bro. Day and I went to Claiborne Parish Detention Center on Wednesday night. There was at least fifty men in the service. I talked with Jose who was bilingual. Rakeen prayed for salvation at the end of the service ! Hallelujah !! This is what it is all about ! We do have several pray from time to time. Some come to just play the part, but you can tell who is really sincere. It is really evident when the tears flow. One of the men who has really been saved was sent to a half-way house in Baton Rouge. He even wrote a tract ! We are praying that God will use him there as he prepares to get out. The in-house pastor has gone, also, after serving his time. A new pastor has been appointed to replace him. At Walmart tonight, I ran into a Sacred Name believer that I have talked to before. He is always argumentative. He is one of those who believes that God's name is Yahweh only. This religion basically goes back to Judaism, keeping the Sabbath on Saturday and denying that Jesus is God, the second person of the Trinity.
I try to get away from him as soon as he starts his talk. Please pray that he will realize the truth before it's too late. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life ( John 14:6 ) ! I heard that he used to to be a oneness Pentecostal. While he was talking with me, I gave a tract to a Spanish man. That was my goal before I ran into him. Have a great soul-winning week !

Soul-Winning Words

"If sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. And if they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there unwarned and unprayed for."    Charles Spurgeon

Go And Tell !

What a great commission for the Christian : to go and tell of the great things that the Lord has done ! It is a joy to talk about how much compassion He has for us ! This man in Mark 5 was bound by spiritual chains when chains that were made by men couldn't hold him. He was wild. He cut himself with stones. He was possessed by devils. Then, the Gadarene met the Nazarene ! Jesus came and set him free ! Do you remember that day when you were set free ? The chains were broken ! You called upon the name of the Lord ! You got saved ! You were blind, but now you see ! Jesus told you to go and tell of what he has done for you ! I was reading this passage in March of 1993 when I lived in Shreveport. The Lord was telling me to go home to witness for him. I came back to West Monroe the next month. I witnessed to everyone that I came in contact with. I witnessed on the job. I told all my friends what the Lord had done for me ! I did lose a lot of friends, but God gave me new ones ! I am still going and telling ! The commandments from the Lord through His word are not grievous !
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 John 5:3-5 KJV)
Be encouraged ! It is joy in obeying the commandment to go and tell ! The first two letters in Gospel is go ! Let's go and tell today !

Soul-Winning Scripture - November 14, 2011

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16 KJV)

Christians are a reflection of the Lord Jesus Christ. We shine as lights in this dark world because Jesus is the light of the world. In Him there is no darkness. As the moon reflects the sun at night, we reflect light of the Son of God to a lost and dying world! Let's shine for Jesus !

New Spanish Blog

I started a new blog called " Ganar Almas En El Norte De Louisiana. " Prayerfully, this will encourage Spanish-speaking Christians to share their faith. Also, I would like to encourage others to learn Spanish. I am not very fluent, but I know enough to witness if I talk to someone that doesn't know English. The Lord has given me a burden for those who speak Spanish. I pray that I can learn more as I do this blog. It will consist of entries from this blog, Spanish related entries, and spotlights on Spanish ministries. You view this by going to the profile on this blog. Thanks ! God Bless !

They Are Watching !

I went to Walmart after work today. As I was leaving, the woman at the door asked " Do you have any pamphlets today ? " I said " I sure do ! " I gave one to her and a co-worker ! I try my best to make sure that I have tracts with me all the time. A man that I used to work with at Sam's will ask me for them everytime I see him ! He will ask " What do you have for me ? " I had to go to the car once when I didn't have any on me. It pays to be ready ! Are you being consistent in witnessing ? If you find it hard to do, pray for God to help you and give you opportunities to witness or pass out tracts. There is joy in soul-winning !

They Are Waiting !

People are waiting for things to happen in their lives. They are waiting for the right person, the perfect job, the break that they have been looking for, peace, or satisfaction. Many spend
most of their lives waiting and not getting. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 says : But if our gospel be
hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light
of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Some may be waiting for someone to point them in the right direction. I went thru the drive-
thru at McDonald's on Thursday evening after work. I gave a tract to the man that took my
money. Then, I gave one to the young man that gave me the food that I ordered. He said "
I have been waiting for someone to talk to about church. " He asked if our church name was on the back of the tract. I told him that it wasn't, but I would drop off a card on Friday. I went back then to give him a card, a Gospel of John & Romans, and a Sunday School Book that may help with a few questions that he might have. I also told him a little about our church. He is supposed to call me on Saturday night to let me know if he us coming. Please help me pray for him to be saved. There is someone out there waiting for you to tell them about Jesus ! Have you went yet ? Are you thinking about it ? What are you waiting for ?

The Glorious Gospel !

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the
gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV)

The Gospel is the greatest news for all mankind ! There is many things that are happening right now that are news-worthy, but they can't top the Good News of the Gospel ! God sending His only begotten Son to pay the penalty for our sin; to be the propitiation for God's judgement ! Jesus died so that we could live ! He gave Himself so that we could have him ! O, what a Savior ! O, that every Christian would run with the Gospel on their lips everyday, proclaiming the salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ ! There are so many that do not Him ! In one of my favorite books, Why Revival Tarries, Leonard Ravenhill says this :
" Men build our churches but do not enter them, print our Bibles but do not read them, talk about God but do not believe Him, speak of Christ but do not trust Him for salvation,
sing our hymns and then forget them. How are we going to come out of all this ? "

There are many who do not know what the Gospel is and Who it is about. We go to the streets
and they tell us that we are doing it the wrong way ! Professing Christians confront us,
justifying there sin in partaking of the worldly pleasures ! They think that we are
protesting, but we are proclaiming ! They think that we are mad, but we are glad ! They mock,
but we love ! They reject the message, but we reach with the burden from the Lord ! How can
we be silent when we have the words of Life ? How can we hide what we have when men are trying to hide from God ? How can we keep Heaven to ourselves while many are plunging into the
eternal flames of hell ? How can our hearts not bleed for the masses that are before us ? We
have what they don't ! We have what they need ! We have eternal life while they have
eternal destruction ! We have the salvation of God while they have the wrath of God that
abides on them according to John 6: 36 ! What shall we do, then ? We must keep obeying God's Word ! We must run with the gospel ! We must pray for labourers for the fields ! We
must pray for Christians to awake out of their slumber ! The Gospel is still Glorious ! Jesus
still saves ! Before chapter seven in Why Revival Tarries, Leonard Ravenhill quotes Archibald Brown :

The Gospel is a fact; therefore tell it simply.
The Gospel is a joyful fact; therefore tell it cheerfully.
The Gospel is an entrusted fact; therefore tell it faithfully.
The Gospel is a fact of infinite moment; therefore tell it earnestly.
The Gospel is a fact of infinite love; therefore tell it feelingly.
The Gospel is a fact of difficult comprehension to many; therefore tell it with illustration.
The Gospel is a fact about a Person; therefore preach Christ.

Walmart And The Three Bars - Friday Night Evangelism

Bro. JJ and I had a great night of witnessing and preaching ! We arrived at Walmart around 8:30. Both of us were able to preach once each. We talked to two homeless men who had the name John in common. One was trying to get back to Mobile, Alabama. He said that the fair had left him behind. The other seemed to know a lot about the Bible. We talked to him for a while. Please pray for these two men. While I was preaching, I felt like preaching in Spanish. Then, a man who looked Spanish was walking away from Walmart. A few minutes later, he walked to where we were. His name was Salvador, who was from Honduras. He did not speak to me in English. He told me that he was missionary Baptist. He said that he was working in Monroe, but was having trouble with his boss. He also said that he was going back to Dallas on Saturday. I prayed for him before he walked away.
We got to the bars after 10:00. We were able to have several one on ones and one on twos. Jay, a taxi cab driver, told us that we needed to be home to get ready for church on Sunday. Bro. JJ talked to him while I was preaching. Another man showed us his bracelet that was made out of fishing swivels. When he implied that he was fishing for men, I told him that he was using the wrong bait. A woman that started to oppose us agreed a little with us after we talked with her and her boyfriend. I gave tracts to Sam and Richard. They had been drinking. Sam wanted me to pray for him. Stephen told me that he was saved in prison, but always end up away from God when he got out. He asked me if he has blasphemed the Holy Ghost. I told him that he hadn't yet. His friend, Garrett, asked for a Gospel of John and Romans when they were leaving. Bro. JJ talked with Shawn and "Shadow". It appeared that Shawn had a cynical attitude, but had never understood the Gospel. He seemed really interested after Bro. JJ talked to them. "Shadow" claimed to be a pagan. She has never been involved with anything religious before. We pray that they will consider what they have heard. Have you shared your faith lately ?

What A Tract Can Do

Do you use gospel tracts ? I use them all the time. Tracts can go where we can't. One man said that a gospel tract has never blown up in anyone's hand ! I make sure I have them with me all the time ! The following is from the latest newsletter from Gospel Nuggets, Inc. It was written by Herman Bartel.

What A Tract Can Do

A silent missionary
A faithful missionary
A sower of God's Word
A tireless worker
A continuous worker
A very economical worker
A worker that repeats many times
A worker that never gets angry
A worker that may touch multitudes
A worker that can go anywhere
A worker that stays on the job
A worker that needs no vacation
A worker that is fearless
A worker that goes where you cannot
A worker that needs no salary
A worker that never gets sick
A worker that needs no building
A worker that is easily available
A worker that heeds no opposition
A worker that travels in pockets
A worker that persists in calling
A worker that is always obedient
A worker that speaks many languages
A worker that takes no offerings
A worker that has much patience
A worker that depends on the Holy Spirit
Why not put him to work !!

Evangelism Update - October 6, 2011

I went grocery shopping with my family tonight. We usually have church on Thursdays, but we had it on Tuesday this week because of preparation for a weekend wedding. When we pulled in to the parking lot, we saw our friend Bro. Wayne , Bro. Willard , and two other men that they go to church with. They were preaching and holding signs. Bro.  Wayne and his wife have been preaching in front of Walmart for many years. I have preached there with them a few times before. We preached together at the mall one Christmas. Bro. JJ preached with them a few weeks ago. They said that they are going to be out there everyThursday night. Bro. Willard is also a veteran street preacher. A homosexual ran over him with a motorcycle while he was preaching at a bar several years ago. Please pray that the Lord will bless their efforts.
While in Walmart, I talked to a Spanish couple, Daniel and Dora. They said that they were
Christians. I told Daniel about how I have learned some Spanish. I also told him about some of
the Spanish music that I listen to. I gave him my work business card. He had an interest in
getting some glasses. I pray that I get to talk to them again. I asked Robert if he was saved.
He responded that he went to church, but wasn't doing right. After I has asked him where he
would be if he died five seconds ago, he said that he would be in hell. I gave him the tract (from the Beuzeugen Tract Club ) that  appears in the picture below. I pray that I will see Robert in Heaven ! Have you shared your faith today ?

Evangelism Update - October 5, 2011

Bro. JJ and I were able to meet at Walmart after work this evening. The Lord really blessed and encouraged us ! We preached, held up signs, and passed out a few tracts. A young man named Evan, who we have talked to at the Tsunami, stopped when he saw us. He said that he wanted to come to church on Sunday. Please pray for him ! God bless you as you rea

Ark-La-Miss Fair - Sept. 23, 2011

The fair is back in town ! We try to evangelize at this event every year. There was six of us this time: Bro. JJ, Bro. Buddy, Bro. Jonathan, Bro. Lanny and his friend, Bro. John. This is the largest crowd drawer that we go to in this area. There were people everywhere ! When we arrived about 9:30 pm, we took our position across from the main entrance on the corner of the city courthouse. We estimated that we gave out between 800 - 1000 tracts. We used most of our signs. We attempted to preach, but there was a steady flow of traffic. There were many who told us that they were saved, but there was a few of them that we weren't too sure about. Many people claim the name, but play the game ! A lot of people will tell you that they are a Christian, but their lives say otherwise ! One man, who had a bottle of beer in a bag, told me that he went to church every Sunday. We talked to him while his buddy threw his bottle down. I guess he didn't see the police that were about ten to twelve feet from us. These two were escorted from the grounds via police cars !
We stayed till about 12:30 am. I was hoping that we could have done more one on ones. Please pray for those who kept the tracts. We saw many put them in their pockets. I asked several to read their tract after the fair. God's will was done as the Gospel went forth.
I am so thankful for brothers who are willing to go to the streets to share their faith in our faithful Lord. How are you doing in your evangelism efforts ?
God Bless !

Tract From The Past

I found a few of these tracts in my briefcase that I had in my car. I don't know if this one is still available. I'll write to the address on the back to see. I gave two of these out at two drive-thrus, asking if they took Gospel checks !

Professor Grant Horner's Bible Reading System

On August 22nd, Tony Miano posted on his blog about Professor Grant Horner's Bible Reading System. I have never had a solid plan where I have read all the way through or in a year.
With this plan, I will have read the Bible in 250 days. I am currently on day 31. I am very excited about this!
My wife started this week . Several people from our church have also got on it. Here is the link if you want to look at it for yourself :  http://www.onthebox.us/2011/08/professor-horners-bible-reading-system.html

Each day you will read ten chapters a day with ten list to read from. I make sure I  get at least ten read everyday. I have doubled up a few times, reading two days worth. This system is very challenging. In Sunday School this weekend, I am going to talk about this plan in our Adult class as I teach on the Word of God. My Bible-reading will never be the same!

Bar Preaching - August 26, 1011

Bro. David, Bro. JJ, and I arrived at our trio of bars around 10:15 this Friday night. We get the most responses and heckling from the Tsunami. Bro. JJ and I both preached for about 20 minutes each. This was the first time for us to bring our cross. It attracted some attention. A few patrons took pictures. One man said that Jesus wasn't on the cross anymore. We told him that he was right and that the cross still has power. Many tried to justify there sin. One man, who we have had several encounters with, said that God wanted him to be in the bar to witness and that it was ok to drink. He also said that he is going to seminary. Another man said that he was a Mormon; that their prophet told them to blend in to win converts. He had no problem drinking and hanging with the bar crowd. I have heard that the Mormon church has changed some things, but I don't think they condone drinking. Nevertheless, they still need the real Jesus. Bro. David knew his friend, Petey. Over a month ago, he was partying with him at the same bar. Now he was witnessing to him. Petey was very intoxicated. J. D. told me
that he was delivered from satanism two years ago. He was wearing a satanic metal band shirt. He said that he went to a certain church. I asked if he knew a friend of mine that goes there.
He said that he did. I told him to tell him that I said hi, but he said that I would see him before he did. Kenny told us that no one was listening and that they were making fun of us. We are used to the heckling. We don't mind because we believe that we are doing the will of God. We are sowing seeds, expecting God to deal with someone to get right with him ! We can't wait till next time !

Earthquake !

Luke 21:28  And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

By now, you have heard about the magnitude 5.8 earthquake that struck near Mineral, Virginia on Tuesday. This is 83 miles from our nation's capital. Some feared that it could have been a terrorist attack at first. I read that there were cracks in the stones at the top of the Washington Monument. Washington's National Cathedral suffered some damage. No one expected this to happen. People were taken by surprise. California usually has all the earthquakes ! What does this have to do with soul-winning ? Jesus said in Luke 21:11. " And great
earthquakes shall be in divers places,
and famines, and pestilences; and
fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
These are the end-times ! Be encouraged in soul-winning ! We must take advantage of every opportunity that we get to reach the lost ! Somebody's eternal destiny may depend on our efforts. God can put us in the right place at the right time for the right person to get right with Him !

Louisville Ave Evangelism - August 16, 2011

I mentioned in an earlier post about a young man praying at our church. He tagged along with Bro. JJ today as they witnessed on Louisville Ave. His name is David ( also known as Spud ). He had attended our church several years ago. He has been with us preaching and distributing tracts. He helped us one time in Texarkana as we witnessed at a bar that was having a outside rock concert. Later on, we found out that the bar got shut down that night ! Bro. David has been away from the Lord for several years, but now he is back ! We have been praying for more to go out with us. They were out today from around 10:00 am - 11:45. After preaching for a little, they witnessed as they walked for a few blocks down Louisville. Bro. David was able to share his testimony with a few men. I came out around 11:20 on my lunch. Bro. JJ preached for a little longer. I talked to Glenn, who was interested in coming to our church. A friend, who was in my wedding, stopped to talk when he saw me there. Bro. JJ and Bro. David gave out several tracts. Have you witnessed to someone today ? God Bless !
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 1 Thessalonians 5:5,6

Evangelism Update - August 14, 2011

Walmart seemed to be the hot spot for this week. I haven't been holding any signs or crosses on the corners because of the extreme temperatures. I am ready for cooler weather ! I talked to a young man named Phillip while waiting in line at Walmart one day after work. We talked about fishing. I gave him a tract after I got my purchase. I talked to Roosevelt and Marquez at the pharmacy area. Roosevelt was from Minnesota. I asked him if there were any Christians up there ! He said that he was saved. He saw a tract that I had put down. I told him that I do this everywhere I go. I pray that I encouraged him. There is a man named Victor that I worked with at Sam's about sixteen years ago. Everytime he sees me, he will ask " What you got for me ? " . He knows that I have tracts on me all the time. I saw him and his wife this week. He is going to saved one of these days; hopefully soon !
We just finished our Youth Awakening tonight ! We had a refreshing time in the Lord. Bro. Ben Brock from Bristow, OK. preached every night except Saturday. A young woman, who came to
our church when she was younger, prayed that night. We had at least 4 prodigals pray this week ! One of them will be preaching with us on the streets like he did several years ago.
We are praying about going to evangelize at a rap concert in two weeks. The local fair will be here on September the 22nd. We may be able to do both Friday nights. This attracts many young people. We have witnessed there several times before. Please pray for our outreaches. Thanks for taking the time to read our blog. Let us know if we have encouraged you in any way by leaving a comment. May God bless your evangelism efforts this week !

Evangelism Update - August 6, 2011

" We have all eternity to tell of the victories won for Christ, but we have only a few hours before sunset to win them. " - Amy Carmichael

I tried to give a tract to a man that was in line at Walmart last Saturday. He didn't want to take it, so I told him that Jesus loved him and I asked his name. He did shake my hand as he told me that his name was Charlie. I pray that he remembers the kindness of a Christian and that others are reaching out to him. I have distributed tracts every day this week.
On Wednesday, Bro. J.J. went out In over one hundred degree temperature to preach at Walmart for about twenty minutes. He said that two women listened to him after they exited a city bus.
I preached at our Thursday night service. Our pastor went to Alabama to
preach at a campmeeting. A young man that used to attend our church prayed at the altar call. After church, my wife wanted me to get her something from the Waffle House. I sat near the
checkout while I waited for the order. One man asked the waitress about his ticket. I asked if
he had his ticket for heaven. " Probably not " was his response. I asked him to
read the tract I gave him. He was with his friends, so I couldn't talk with him much. The
cook asked me for a tract after he saw me witnessing. I call that a two for one ! This has
happened a few other times before.
Friday - I went to McDonald's at lunch, expecting to talk to somebody . I gave a Spanish
" Are You A Good Person ? " tract to Victor, who was bilingual. I talked to Lonnie,
who asked me for a handful of tracts after I gave him one. He said that he was going to give
them out at work. I gladly gave him all that were in my pocket.
Saturday - Several members of our church went door-knocking, inviting people to our Youth
Awakening that will take place Aug. 11 - 14. We were able to give out flyers, tracts, and talk
to a few about the Lord. Please pray for Hosea, Brandon, and the
others that we talked to. How was your week ?

Louisiana Watermelon Festival In Farmerville

The 48th annual Louisiana Watermelon Festival is going on this weekend in Farmerville. It is held on the last weekend of every July. A street dance with a live band took place tonight. Bro. J.J. and I went to evangelize because a lot of people usually attend this. There was also a carnival coinciding with the street dance. We had preached there several years ago. The crowd wasn't as large as we expected it to be, but there was enough people to witness to. We each took a street corner, passing out tracts and holding signs. We probably gave out ninety to a hundred tracts. Everyone took them from us. I was able to give out the " ? Es Usted Una Buena Persona ? " ( Are You A Good Person ? ) tract to several Spanish people. As one family passed by, I sang half of a verse from one of my favorite Spanish songs : " Jesus, Mi Fiel Amigo. " I also met Manuel, who is a Christian. We had a good conversation. A man named John told me that he was backslidden. He has just moved to Louisiana. We pray that he will get right with God. Russell told me that he was a busy man. He
had been in Iraq for two years with the Air Force. I welcomed him home. He took a tract,
also. The only opposition was when a young person asked Bro. J.J if he was going in after he did the " Jesus Saves " thing.
Bro. J.J. and I have really been encouraged in the outreaches that we have been involved in. We are praying about witnessing at a rap concert next month in Monroe. Please pray that we can be used to see souls brought to the foot of the Cross ! Thanks again for viewing our blog. God Bless !

Evangelism Update - July 28, 2011

I went to the corner of Lamy and Louisville at lunch on Monday. I got to give out a few tracts. I worked in Ruston that afternoon. After leaving , I had to get a few things at Walmart. You know what that meant ! My first witness was to a Spanish man in the electronics department. After talking to him, I discovered that I didn't have my keys ! I went back to our van to confirm my mistake ! I didn't want to call a locksmith, so I tried to find some things to unlock the van myself. In my searching, I gave tracts to workers in the garden department and the sports department. I also left a tract in a card holder in the vision center. As I was trying to unlock the van, a man came to my aid. I had to go buy a screwdriver to use with a camping utensil that I purchased earlier. After unlocking the door, I gave the man ten dollars and four tracts ( He had three friends with him. )
Sometimes we have go to make the best of a situation !

On Tuesday, I went through the drive-thru at Church's Chicken. I was informed that the chicken
would be ready in fifteen minutes. I didn't want to wait; so I went to Super One to get
chicken from the deli. While I was there, I gave out five Spanish tracts. I gave a tract to
the woman that gave me the chicken. I talked to a gentleman that had previously worked at
Walmart. He asked me to pray for him.

At lunch on Wednesday, I studied for jail service at the library. I left a few tracts lying
around there. On the way to jail service, Bro. J.J. and I left a few tracts at a Chevron. We
has a great service at Claiborne Parish Detention Center. A man that got saved a few months
ago has been giving Bro. J.J. letters to let us know how God I working in his life. He is
breaking it off with his unsaved girlfriend. He said that the Lord has helped him with his
anger problem. Tracts were left at McDonald's after service. I got to talk to a man
briefly as I gave him one.

My mother has been in the hospital since Wednesday morning. At lunch on Thursday, I went to
see her. She was getting a test done when I got there. I gave a tract to a man that was on the
phone. As I went, I placed a few tracts here and there. I put a Gospel of John and Romans in
the lobby.I stopped at the Dollar General to get pencil sharpeners for my children on my way
home from work. A couple went to a closed register as I approached the open one. I let them go
ahead of me since they were there first. When they were leaving, I offered the man a tract. I
thought that he wouldn't take it, but he did ! How was your week ?

Personal Evangelism - July 23, 2011

How are your evangelism efforts going ? We pray that you are being encouraged and that doors are being opened. God has really blessed our lives with joy that just can't be stopped ! I desire to do what I can for the sake of a soul to be saved ! I went to the mall last night with my family. I gave out several tracts there. Afterwards, we went to Walmart. You can't just shop at Walmart. Everybody goes there ! I am always looking for someone to witness to while I am there. I talked to a man that was homeless. He told me that he was supposed to preach at one time. I pray that God will touch his heart and bring Him back to the blood of Jesus. Please pray for Mr. Harris.
Today we went to Ruston, which is about forty miles from where we live. Our first stop was a thrift store. I was able to get five free Gideon New Testaments. I give these away whenever I get them. I was able to witness to 7 Spanish men there. I keep Spanish tracts with me, too. After that , I gave tracts to two Spanish men that worked at the Chinese restuarant that we ate at. Then, at Walmart, I talked to Hosea and his family. He seemed interested in coming to
our church in the morning. My daughter talked with his daughters who were about the same age
as her. We had a good conversation about the Lord and church. I also gave tracts to two
young Muslim men as they were leaving the store. To my surprise, they took them !
A woman at the Dollar General in Sterlington recognized me from being on the corner by the
college where I have been twice this past week. She told me that she appreciated me being out
there . That was very encouraging ! Lastly, the carhop at Sonic was giving me a tea. I didn't have a good grip on it, so it ended up on my pants and our van floorboard. I didn't get upset.
When she brought me the new tea, I gave her a tip and a tract ! How was your day in evangelizing ?

Evangelism Update - July 18, 2011

Here is an update on what we have been doing lately. About two weeks ago, Bro. J.J. went to do some early morning evangelizing at Walmart. He arrived there around 8:00. He was joined by Lance Levy who recently prayed. He attends our church now. Lance helped with holding a sign while we preached. I got there on my lunch around 11:15. Bro. J.J. was there for about four hours. We posted a short YouTube video titled " Look To Jesus " from this day. On June 28, we met up on my lunch. The YouTube video from then is called " When You Take Your Last Breath, Your Decision Is Forever Made ". Another day , Bro J.J. went to Bastrop with Bro. Jonathan Day holding the sign . There were several listening as the Gospel was being preached.

Another sign has been made for the street ministry. It is the one in the picture above. We plan on making more and ordering a few. We also plan on making a couple of new crosses.

Last Tuesday night after prayer meeting at church, I felt like getting the large cross and
holding it in front of our church. I was just there for about five minutes when a man on a
bike came by. I gave a tract to him before he went to a store that was near by. He came back and
asked for money to buy something to eat. I was able to talk to him for a few minutes. I found
out that he used to sing In the choir at the church he once went to. I encouraged him to get
back to the Lord. I gave him a few dollars and a Gospel with Romans and John. After he left
the store, he stopped to thank me. Please pray for Dennis. I gave tracts to four other people
that were walking by.

I placed another " Are You Ready ? " tract holder at a laundry mat in Monroe. A kind
lady that was working allowed me to put it there.

Bro. Aaron and Sis. Victoria Hough have been at our church this summer,
helping out with children's church and preaching. They are graduates of Free Gospel Bible
Institute in Export, Pa . Sis. Victoria is originally from our church. Bro. Aaron went out
with Bro. J.J. on Friday night to the trio of clubs. They said that they were swarmed with bar
patrons as soon as they got there. They weren't able to preach much due to this. It was
like the first night we preached there. One intoxicated young man said that he read
Proverbs and even quoted the verses that dealt with drinking. He said that the hard part was obeying them. Bro. J.J said that a couple of fights almost broke out. We may be getting through to a few of the regulars.

We are planning to go to the annual Watermelon Festival in Farmerville on the night of July the 29th. There will be many attending this event. Please pray for us to reach some souls that night . Until next time, Happy Soul-winning !

The 10/5 Challenge

A poll taken several years ago revealed that only ten percent of Christians shared their faith. If this is true, then what are the other ninety percent doing ? Every Christian should be about the business of telling others about Jesus and the way of salvation through His wonderful cross. We would like to encourage those who find it difficult to begin to tell others the Good News of the Gospel. Once you get started, you can't stop ! We would like for you to take this challenge to give you a boost in evangelizing the lost. There are two options you can choose from. Witness to ten people a day for five days in a row. This would include handing out gospel tracts or engaging in a conversation with someone that leads to witnessing. The second option is to evangelize for ten minutes a day for five days in a row. Find a street corner to hold up a sign or maybe street preach. You could pass out tracts for ten minutes, also. Imagine how many tracts could be distributed in ten minutes ! Place them where people can pick them up to read when they are idle. Pray about what the Lord would have you to do. Witnessing is not that hard ! People will appreciate someone taking the time to speak to them about their soul and eternal destiny. We pray that you will accept this challenge to help you get over an obstacle that is preventing you from being the soul-winner that God wants you to be. Feel free to leave a comment after you have taken this challenge and seen a change in your witnessing efforts. God Bless !

Fourth Of July Fireworks In Monroe

Happy Independence Day to those in the United States of America ! Thank
the Lord for the freedom that we have here to share our faith and worship our Savior. Bro J.J. and I went
to the annual firework display held by the Monroe Jaycees on Saturday night. This attracts many
from the area. The fireworks only lasted for about thirteen minutes, but we evangelized for
almost an hour. We caught the crowd when they were leaving. We were able to give out over one
hundred tracts with only five hitting the ground. One man threw two on the ground after he took them from me. I got a little preachy for a minute. He came back a few minutes later to tell me that I shouldn't cram it down people's throats. I told him that I wasn't; that we were out there because we loved him. Another young man in a vehicle asked where we went to church. I told him the name of our church. He asked if we were apostolic. I told him that we were pentecostal, holiness, and trinitarian. He suggested that we read Acts 2:38. I proclaimed " I'm saved ! I'm saved ! I'm saved ! " We had a few brief conversations with a few. We were so encouraged from this that we went to the corner of Lamy Lane and Louisville Ave. for another forty minutes. We were able to give out a few more tracts to some who were stopped at the traffic light.
One man said that seeing us there made him think that we were the only two sane people on earth ! He was out with the party crowd ! The time is short, brothers and sisters ! We must take advantage of every opportunity to evangelize the lost ! Thanks for reading ! Happy Fourth of July to our American friends ! Happy soul-winning to all !

Another Street Cross

This one was real easy to make. I got two pieces of cardboard that came out of a display box. They were a little over 4 feet long each. I cut the horizontal piece down to 3 feet and 2 inches. After I glued the two pieces together, I used stencils for the lettering. I had a great time holding it up at lunch time today !

Gospel Tract Spotlight

Gospel tracts are a great way to witness. Some people may read a tract before they will listen to a Christian. I have been giving out tracts ever since I have been saved. It is a very healthy addiction ! Not only can you hand them out, but you can put them in many places to speak to someone who needs the Lord Jesus Christ. I have made a few tract holders and placed them at a couple of laundry mats. ( We highly recommend removing Jehovah's Witness material and replacing them with great Gospel tracts in laundry mats ! ) Pay phone booths are ideal, but it seems that they are becoming extinct. There are still a few at Walmart. I like to put one on a newspaper stand. People can get the Good News while they are getting the news ! Pray that the Lord will lead you where to place them. Some places that you should not place them are mail boxes ( It is against the law. ) and any place of business that enforces a law that prohibits from solicitation, like a mall or private owned property.
The tracts in the picture are from Gospel Nuggets, Inc. In West Monroe, Louisiana, which is overseen by Bro. Huey Diffey and his wife. They send tracts and literature in many languages all over the world. Their most popular tract is probably " Has Your Account Been Settled ? " Bro. Diffey has wrote most of their tracts. His friend, the late A.J. Ogden, wrote " Heaven And How To Get There " . Bro. Diffey told me that he was a great soul-winner, leading a nurse to the Lord when he was about to enter into Heaven ! What a way to go !
